The very youngest children at Monkey Puzzle Day Nursery High Wycombe spend their days in our beautifully designed Babies’ room, welcoming little ones from three months to two years old. Every detail of the space has been created with their needs in mind, offering the perfect environment for them to feel secure, thrive, and begin discovering the world around them.

We are passionate about taking care of your babies

Your baby is looked after by our dedicated and specially trained team. Each staff member cares directly for no more than three children at any time, allowing them to provide the close, attentive, and individualised care your child deserves. This approach helps us truly understand your baby, maintain strong bonds, and continue the routines that matter to you at home.

We also celebrate every special moment in your child’s journey. Whether it’s taking their first steps, climbing the stairs independently, or using a fork for the first time, we mark these milestones with pride, sometimes even awarding fun keepsakes such as a “walking licence” to share with parents.

Supporting development through care, play and real experiences

Your baby’s development is nurtured through the three prime areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage:

  • Physical development
  • Communication and language
  • Personal, social and emotional development

These areas are woven naturally into your child’s day through play, conversation, role-modelling, and warm interactions. We also support language development through rich sensory experiences and exploratory play, helping your child make sense of their world.

Our team ensures babies enjoy a day filled with care, comfort, and engagement, including:

  • Regular, attentive nappy changes based on your child’s individual needs
  • Essential sleep and rest, following your home routines and supporting their growing independence in finding their nursery rhythm
  • Gentle daily care such as wiping noses, cleaning hands and faces, applying creams, and offering comfort throughout the day
  • Opportunities to develop independence—wiping their own noses, attempting to clean their faces, and beginning to self-serve during mealtimes
  • Early recognition of their own belongings, such as coats, bags, and shoes
  • Real-life experiences including visits to the park and soft play, building confidence and curiosity

Growing curiosity through new learning opportunities

As they grow, our babies are also introduced to four specific areas that spark their interest and widen their understanding:

  • Literacy
  • Mathematics
  • Understanding the world
  • Expressive arts and design

Through stimulating play and hands-on experiences, children begin to explore patterns, sounds, textures, stories, and creativity, all at their own pace.

Above all, every child builds a strong, secure relationship with their key person. This trusted bond helps them feel safe, confident, and ready to explore every new experience their day brings.
