The nursery facilities at Monkey Puzzle High Wycombe are individually appointed to reflect the particular requirements of each age group from three months to five years old.
Children are moved between rooms based on individual development rather than age.
Nursery Facilities
Under 2′s – Baby / Tweenie Room
Babies (3 months to approximately 16 months) and Tweenies (from approximately 16 months to 2 years) benefit from a bright and open plan room with dedicated areas for non-mobile children. Staff cater for their individual requirements. Babies are supplied with their own bedding and the temperature is constantly monitored to ensure babies are comfortable at all times. Each baby is encouraged to develop through creative and sensory activities. We have a cosy book area and a sensory play area. Tweenies enjoy activities structured around their changing interests. We operate a 1:3 ratio in the Baby/Tweenie Room.
All children receive a hot nutritious meal at lunch time and our dedicated staff team sit with the children to encourage communication and social interaction.
Over 2′s – 3’s Toddler Floor and Pre-School Floor
Both floors are large, bright and spacious. The toddler area has been designed with sensory and creative areas to develop and stimulate the children’s inquisitive minds. Developing their numeracy and literacy skills is facilitated with specific areas. The room benefits from a creative area for messy play, a home corner, a reading corner and a free play area to allow them to participate in a well-structured day, which helps prepare the preschoolers for primary school. In addition, each floor has its own toilets and sinks to help encourage toilet training for the younger children and independence for the older children. We operate a 1:4 ratio with our toddlers and a 1:8 ratio with our Pre-school room.
Outside Play Area
Our well-equipped, fully enclosed outdoor play area allows children’s learning to continue outside. This is a creating space where children can grow.
They are able to ride around our own little road, learning crossing skills on the zebra crossing, and stopping and starting at traffic light colours. There is an all-weather grassed bank with a wondrous numbered giant caterpillar to learn counting and colours, and play with water and sand. Picnics and tea parties or sitting and reading can all be done in our cosy outdoor shaded area. Anything the children want to achieve outside, we can support them to make this happen in a safe and stimulating environment.
Car Park
We have a large car park for pick-up and collection, helping to ensure that every visit to the nursery is welcoming and convenient for both your child and you.
